As Republicans abandon Donald Trump, data proves he was right!

Trump Fights Back

Donald Trump has been climbing in the polls even after his controversial comments about Mexican immigrants. During his announcement speech, Trump made a comment about how Mexico is not sending “their best” people across the border, adding that “they’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume are good people.”

Despite the controversial nature of “The Donald’s” remarks, he is beginning to garner some support from a few Republican presidential hopefuls, including:

  • Ted Cruz
  • Rick Santorum
  • Carly Fiorina
  • Ben Carson.

The balance of the current field of announced candidates either were indifferent or they flat-out rebuked Trump. They are:

  • Rand Paul
  • Chris Christie
  • Bobby Jindal
  • Rick Perry
  • Jeb Bush (of course)
  • Mike Huckabee
  • Marco Rubio
  • George Pataki
  • Lindsey Graham (also, of course)

Perhaps the anti-Trump crowd should re-evaluate their position. As I mentioned in an article I wrote a few days ago, the majority of Americans are closer to Trump’s position on this issue than they are to those who disagree with him. Particularly in light of new information made available today. For example, did you know that almost half of all federal criminal cases are filed in just five districts on the U.S. southern border? The five locations are: two in Texas, and one each in Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California.

But that’s not the worst part. While illegal immigrants account for about 3.5 percent of the U.S. population, they represented nearly 37% of federal sentences in FY 2014 following criminal convictions, according to U.S. Sentencing Commission data obtained by Breitbart News. Some of the primary offenses committed by these illegals include:

  • Drug trafficking
  • Kidnapping/hostage taking
  • Drug possession
  • Money laundering
  • Murder

The USSC data only includes federal offenders sentenced under the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 and doesn’t include other categories like state cases, death penalty cases, or “cases initiated but for which no convictions were obtained, offenders convicted for whom no sentences were yet issued, and offenders sentenced but for whom no sentencing documents were submitted to the Commission.”

I’m not endorsing Trump, but with polling that shows support for his position on illegal immigrants—along with the new data released by the USSC—the rest of the GOP field needs to stop playing into Hillary Clinton’s hands and embrace Trump’s realistic, though politically-incorrect, viewpoint on the issue. Failure to do so could cost the GOP in 2016.

By the way, do you remember when the Obama administration claimed that he had made the border more secure than ever?
