OK. So tell me if you’ve heard this one. A former US Attorney General, a gun-runner, a racist, and a possible 2020 presidential candidate walk into a bar and the bartender asks, “What’ll it be, Mr. Holder?”
According to those in his inner circle, Obama’s race-baiting, gun-running buddy, Eric Holder, is giving serious consideration to the idea of running for president in 2020 in order to “oppose things that are, at the end of the day, just bad for the country.”
While it would be easy to write off this news as the ramblings of a washed-up liberal politician, Conservatives should pay close attention to the man who once called America “a nation of cowards” when it came to dealing with matters of race.
As I wrote back in February, Holder is still very involved in shaping the political landscape in America. In a partnership with his former boss, Barack Obama, Holder is leading a group known as the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. This group is working at the “grass-roots” level to elect enough Democrats in state and local government over the next few years in order to position the party to gerrymander congressional districts when redistricting takes place in 2020.
Much like Obama, Holder offers little when it comes to being qualified to be president. And also like Obama, Holder isn’t shy about playing the race card to cover his lack of qualifications. In a recent interview, he stated:
“Up to now, I have been more “behind-the-scenes,” but that’s about to change. I have a certain status as the former attorney general. A certain status as the first African-American attorney general.”
I know it’s a long-shot, but if Holder were to become the Democrat nominee in 2020, and if Donald Trump doesn’t do something soon to reverse his tanking job approval numbers, I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility that we could be saying “President Holder” after the 2020 election.
And I also think that Conservatives who disregard Holder do so at their own peril.
